Details

The Steam Magic™ Styling Iron looks like a flat iron but works differently. On damp hair, its plates turn surface water into steam that surrounds each strand, shielding it from the heat. The hair then absorbs that vapour as it cools, so it comes out straight, soft and smooth instead of dry and stiff. - Works on towel-dried hair, so there is no need to blow-dry first - Rib-structured plates straighten with a gentle press and minimal contact - Silicone layers over the plate housings protect hands and scalp - Heats to 230°C (450°F) in about 30 seconds, with an adjustable dial - 32 mm (1¼″) plates, 360° swivel salon-length cord, auto shut-off after 1 hour - Also works on dry hair, like a regular flat iron Rated 125 V AC, 60 Hz. Do not use with a voltage converter. Two-year limited warranty.

How to use it

Engineered for steam

What’s inside the plates.

Making real steam takes more than a hot surface. Our engineers spent over a year with a university research centre solving the problem from the inside out.

Low-loss heating

Instead of pushing more power, we cut heat loss. A heat-proof structure separates the heater from the plate bracket (a patented design), so energy goes to your hair — 230°C in about 30 seconds.

Micro-porous surface

Aerospace-grade plate material with a special surface treatment holds a thin, even film of water until it all becomes steam — while staying hard, smooth and abrasion-resistant.

Ribbed plate structure

Raised ribs pull hair taut as it glides, so you only need a gentle press. Less contact with the hot surface means more steam around every strand.

For stylists

A moisture service your salon can offer.

Fast heat transfer means less time under high heat for every client, and the steam layer protects your hands as well as their hair.

  • Work through sections faster with 30-second heat-up
  • Use lower temperatures for the same result, thanks to efficient heat transfer
  • Steam treatments into the hair at low temperature — a handheld hair spa
  • Add a moisture-replenishing styling service to your menu

Steam iron questions

More answers in the full FAQ, or follow the step-by-step guide.

How wet should my hair be?

Wet enough that strands cling together in bundles, but not dripping onto your clothes. A gentle towel-dry from roots to ends is usually perfect.

Why do I glide slowly instead of fast?

With a regular straightener you rush to avoid scorching. Here, a slow first pass gives the plates time to turn water into steam — and the steam keeps the hair protected the whole way down.

Why wait 2–3 seconds after each pass?

Hair can only absorb water as vapour. Touching or combing right away condenses the steam back into droplets. A short pause lets the strands drink it in.

Can I use it outside North America?

The Steam Magic™ Styling Iron is rated 125 V AC, 60 Hz and must not be used with a voltage converter. For travel abroad, the Mini Magic™ Hot Brush supports 120–240 V.
